Race Distance: 1.5k and 5k Minimum Age Limit: 18 years Age Determining Date: The actual age of the competitor as of 31 December 2018. Age Groups: 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94 and five year increments as high as necessary. Swimmers will be seeded by age/gender. Athletes will be started in waves based on age group and or gender. Race organizers, in consultation with the referee and subject to advice from the UANA Masters Technical Committee, have designated a cut-off time for each Masters race of 90 minutes. All swimmers will be required to wear highly visible colored numbered swim caps, which will be provided. Use of Wetsuits: Wet suits are NOT permitted. Training Provision: Training opportunities may be available in the warm up/warm down pools, daily at Aquatic Complex. Training may also be done on the competition course the day before the event. Competition Location: Due to lake water temperatures at this time of year in Orlando, we are taking the open water portion of the Pan Ams to the east coast of Florida for a ocean swim!!! Venue will be announced in the following weeks, however please alot for this in your travel plans if you are planning on attending the open water events.
Competition Date: August 5, 2018. The tentative start time for Open water event is 7:00am. Length of Course:The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reduce the length of the swim, based on medical advice should adverse weather conditions prevail. Water Temperature: 77-85 Degrees F Transport: Transportation will be offered from the Aquatic Center to the Competition Venue (TBD). Marshaling Area: All athletes must be in the marshaling area ½ hour before their allowed wave. A map showing the course will be clearly visible in this area for all the participants. Safety: Full medical provision and appropriate safety craft will be provided during and at end of competition.
Changing Area: Competitors must leave their equipment in this area. The Organizing Committee will provide a bright colored cap for each swimmer. Each swimmer is required to wear this cap. Thermal caps may NOT be worn. Support Facilities: Shower and changing facilities will be available. Hospitality: Drinks and fruits will be provided in the catering area.
Medals: Medals will be awarded 1st-10th place in each age group.
